I am a boots and blue jeans wearing, cigar smoking, Texan who is 6’4’’ and 300lbs. I love the outdoors and being outdoors. Hunting, fishing, golfing and anything else I can apply my competitive spirit to. “If you’re not first you’re last”, Ricky Bobby says it best.

I play golf for the competition, the comradery and the challenge. Similar to sitting around the camp fire, I just love the time with the guys telling stories, and laughing, whether in clubhouse at the 19th hole or on the course. And professionally, I’ve made some of the best connections and struck the best deals in a golf cart, on a green, or in the tee box.

I have a mid to high index, which shows that it's about the time and experience versus my score. A bad day on the golf course is better than a good day in the office. With me you will see parts of the course you’ve never seen before.

Where did "Big Country" come from?

It’s a nickname I was given. The last couple of years I have played in a Ryder cup type format at Calusa Pines in Florida (spectacular!). BTW, my team has won the last two years in a row. Given my stature and my generally country boy (or redneck) demeanor (you can take the boy out of the country, but you can’t take the country out of the boy) my caddie, who is ex Army and has now been designated the name “Army”, started calling me “big country”. From that point on, every participant in the tournament referred to me as big country or BC. Over a big steak dinner, one of the guys said, “Dave, you should start a line of clothing for golfers" , and the rest is history.

Having always been a big guy, I’ve struggled finding apparel that fits, and fits well. Therefore, every garment put out by Big County is well thought out, from its initial design, fabrics selected, to its stitching. We make it our business to provide a high-quality line of clothing for the common man who golfs.

Given my love for the outdoors, I enjoy the styles and colors used by the fishing and hunting community; thus Big Country encompasses those colors and schemes into our golf apparel.
